Purchasing from IBM Maximo: also directly in an e-commerce portal
Order a tool or a box of pens with a mouse click directly from IBM Maximo at an e-commerce portal – via a controlled process, but without the intervention of your purchasing department. Sounds good, right? It saves your expensive buyers a lot of work. They can focus on the purchase of complex products and services, with a high value. How does it work?
IBM Maximo is also a powerful purchasing system. We wrote about it earlier in one of our blogs. From IBM Maximo, you can purchase not only all the products and services you need for your asset management, but also, for example, office supplies. Of course, you want to maintain control over your purchases, which is logical. The question, however, is whether every order via IBM Maximo must actually go through your buyers. By linking IBM Maximo to a digital trading platform, you can also arrange for simple products with a low purchase value to be purchased by your maintenance personnel themselves. It is determined in advance who can order what, what the conditions are and who approves the purchase, for example a department head or project leader. This relieves your buyers, while you maintain control over the purchasing process.
Fast, simple and error-free purchasing process
Suppose one of your maintenance people needs bolts for a maintenance job. How easy is it to go directly from IBM Maximo to the catalog of an e-commerce portal and place the order there? The catalog contains all the products and services for which your purchasing department has made price agreements with the supplier in advance. With the correct product information, such as article number and specifications, so that no mistakes can arise there either. IBM Maximo then automatically creates a purchase order and sends the PO to the responsible budget holder for approval. In this example, that is the maintenance manager, who approves the purchase order with the push of a button and forwards it to the digital trading platform. This is how the order is created in a fast and controlled manner, without your buyers being involved. Were the bolts ordered directly from the work order for the maintenance job? Then it is also immediately clear what purchase costs you have incurred for the work.
